In the hills, the road can decide the design. Plan transport with the manufacturer before the drawing is frozen.

Survey the route

Note tight bends, bridge load limits, tunnels and overhead lines between the plains and the site. Share the narrowest and lowest points.

Shipping dimensions

Larger units can be shipped with radiators, conservator and bushings removed, and refitted on site. Ask for both the shipping and the installed dimensions.

Weather windows

Snow and monsoon landslides close routes. Agree a dispatch window that avoids them.

Site readiness

The plinth, cable trench and earthing should be ready when the transformer arrives, so it is not left exposed.
